The Hidalgo County Tuberculosis Program is recognized for the outstanding demonstration and effective implementation of Tuberculosis Control Standards, Medical Countermeasures, & Community-Wide Outreach Education.



Pulmonary Clinic Services Provided


  • TB cases and suspected case of TB: evaluation and diagnosis provided by physician along with treatment by nursing staff by DOT (direct observed treatment).
  • Screening of those exposed to someone w/ TB disease: application of the Tuberculin Skin Test/TSPOT, chest x-rays if necessary and preventive treatment along with Targeted Tuberculin Testing: for persons at the highest risk of LTBI (Latent TB Infection) for the purpose offering preventive treatment. 
  • Accept referral from Private Physicians: for evaluation of TB disease and treatment for those already evaluated for LTBI (Latent tuberculosis Infection). 
  • Walk-ins accepted: anyone demonstrating signs and symptoms of Tuberculosis will be evaluated.
